During the August 8, 2016 Barka Foundation organized a seminar “Culinary Phenomenon on the Map of Poznan – Social Cooperatives of Legal Entities”. During this event the participants talked about the first year of operation of the “Dobra” Social Cooperative, Social Cooperative “Common Table” and Social Cooperative “Kantyna” in the context of extending the employment opportunities of marginalized people in the catering industry.
An interesting idea for the development of social enterprises with a culinary profile was presented by Maria Sadowska, a member of the Board of the Barka Foundation and a Polish representative in the project “Eco-Restaurateur”. In the lecture titled: “Eco-catering, as a development opportunity for social enterprises,” presented the results of the work of international partners to create a model for educating help cookers in the area of eco kitchen work. The first stage of the project was to create a kitchen competence profile for help cookers. In addition, she pointed out how high compliance requirements in eco restaurants can be an asset in the catering business of social enterprises – which are generally accustomed to the high organizational requirements of the law.
The meeting was attended by representatives of public institutions, trade unions, business, civic organizations and the media.
